A real estate development is taking shape in a former vacant lot in New Orleans East, and a Wingstop takeout location will be one of the tenants set to inhabit the development. According to permit documents filed with the City of New Orleans, the new takeout spot will hold less than 50 occupants and be located at 7001 Read Ln. Suite C. Known for its lemon-pepper wings, Wingstop has gone through rapid growth in recent years, exceeding its own internal growth projections. In the first quarter of 2024, where the fried chicken wing company opened 65 units, bringing the total number of units to nearly 2,300 locations. As of May, Wingstop stores were averaging double-digit sales growth over the previous five quarters.
