Closed by the COVID-19 pandemic, potentially for good, Lil Dizzy’s Café reopened in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. Now, ownership appears to be planning an expansion, as permits filed with the City of New Orleans indicate the Treme restaurant will look to use an adjacent lot at 1243 N. Robertson St. that is currently vacant. What Now New Orleans has inquired about a potential restaurant expansion but has not received a response.

Lil Dizzy’s was opened in 2005 by Wayne Baquet Sr., and it went on to develop a massive following. Over the years, Lil Dizzy’s has welcomed celebrities, New Orleans Saints players, and President George W. Bush on a post-Katrina visit. After the restaurant was closed by the pandemic, Baquet turned over operations to Wayne Baquet Jr. and his wife Arkesha Baquet. The couple refurbished the restaurant before reopening it in February 2021.
