When it comes to testing out restaurant concepts, established restaurant groups have a major advantage over start-ups in that they already have all the infrastructure in place. That seems to be on full display with the recent, successful six-month ‘test run’ of Jude’s Hot Chicken and Shrimp in Baton Rouge from the Moreaux Restaurant Group. The restaurant’s Instagram page recently announced that ownership was “blown away” by the reception to the concept located at 3930 Burbank Dr., and added that it will reopen at a yet-to-be-announced new location.

Jude’s Hot Chicken opened in September inside a former location for Off the Hook, a fast-casual, Cajun seafood chain restaurant also owned by the Moreaux Restaurant Group. The chain has five locations across Southern Louisiana. The Jude’s concept was somewhat similar to that of Off the Hook but Jude’s specialized in Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and similarly prepared spicy battered shrimp. Jude’s garnered a lot of attention on TikTok and other social media platforms during its brief test run.
